Job summary

STV seeks a Drainage Engineer to support transportation infrastructure projects across the West, primarily California. The ideal candidate has 6–12 years of drainage design experience and a PE license (preferred), with flexibility to base in STV offices in Los Angeles, Irvine, San Francisco, Rancho Cucamonga, Portland, or Bellevue.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering or related field.
• 6-12 years of drainage design experience for transportation projects.
• PE license in WA/OR/CA preferred or ability to obtain within 6 months.
• Strong knowledge of hydrology and hydraulic analysis, BMPs, and LID strategies.
• Experience with listed software packages and CAD/GIS tools.
• Excellent written and verbal communication for reports and multidisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

• Support drainage design for transportation projects including road, rail, bridge, and highway improvements.
• Prepare stormwater management and drainage designs, culvert calculations, and erosion control plans.
• Perform hydrology and hydraulic analyses to support design decisions and permitting.
• Assist with stormwater permitting and regulatory coordination.
• Prepare technical and design reports, cost estimates, and specifications.
• Coordinate with road, structural, rail, and environmental teams for integrated delivery.
• Participate in design reviews and QA/QC to ensure accuracy and completeness.
• Attend meetings with clients, subconsultants, and regulators.
