Job summary

STV seeks a Drainage Engineer to support transportation infrastructure projects across the West, with emphasis on California, Oregon, and Washington. The role targets a 6–12 year drainage professional ready to expand technical design capabilities within a collaborative team.

Based in one of STV’s California offices or Portland, OR, this position offers growth opportunities, exposure to public-sector clients, and a clear path toward leadership in drainage, stormwater, and H&H design.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field required.
• 6–12 years of drainage design experience for transportation projects preferred.
• PE license in WA, OR, or CA (preferred), or ability to obtain within 6 months.
• Strong knowledge of hydrology and hydraulic analysis, stormwater design, drainage systems, BMPs and LID.
• Experience with listed software packages (HEC-RAS, Hydrocalc, XPSWMM, …).
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Support drainage design for transportation projects (roadway, rail, bridge, highway).
• Prepare stormwater and drainage designs, culvert calculations, hydraulic structures, BMPs and LID, erosion control plans.
• Perform hydrology and hydraulic analyses to support design decisions and regulatory compliance.
• Assist with stormwater permitting and environmental regulatory coordination.
• Prepare technical reports, drainage reports, and cost estimates with accuracy and organization.
• Coordinate with roadway, structural, rail, and environmental teams.
