Job summary

Sigma Defense seeks a Software Engineer in Norfolk, VA to join our team and contribute to full-lifecycle software development, testing, integration, and deployment for mission-critical systems.

This hybrid role supports remote work but requires on-site presence to meet program goals and DoD security requirements. The ideal candidate has DoDAF/MBSE experience, Kubernetes, AWS, and DevSecOps expertise for government projects.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of professional software engineering experience (Master’s degree).
• 14+ years with Bachelor's in computer-related field and relevant work.
• Experience applying Agile, DevOps, and DevSecOps in DoD contexts.
• 2+ years of Kubernetes experience.
• Experience developing DoDAF architecture views and MBSE methods.

Responsibilities

• Lead Agile-based planning, execution, and delivery activities including PI Planning, sprint planning, daily scrums, and system demos.
• Coordinate with Product Owners, Scrum Masters, and engineering teams to refine requirements and acceptance criteria.
• Provide technical leadership across multiple software projects including design, development, integration, and modernization.
• Oversee troubleshooting and resolution of system defects, outages, and performance issues with government stakeholders.
• Guide architecture development with microservices, RESTful APIs, containerization, and cloud strategies.
