Job summary

Sigma Defense seeks a Computer Engineer to lead the design, modernization, and sustainment of containerized components for Navy environments from Norfolk, VA. The role demands senior technical authority across microservices, orchestration, CI/CD, security hardening, and system integration in U.S.

Navy settings. You will drive architectural decisions, oversee modernization efforts, and coordinate with cybersecurity and government stakeholders to ensure RMF compliance and successful delivery

Qualifications

• DoD 8140/8570 IAT Level II or Level III (e.g., Security+ CE, CySA+, GSEC, SSCP)
• AWS Cloud Practitioner certification is required
• In-depth experience with containerization and orchestration technologies (Docker, Kubernetes) is essential
• Strong knowledge of CI/CD automation
• Experience with cloud services (AWS) and infrastructure as code
• Proficiency in programming languages including C#, VB.NET, ASP.NET MVC
• Scripting or test automation skills (Python, JavaScript)
• Experience with Linux (RHEL) and Windows Server environments
• Familiarity with network and security hardening practices
• Experience with MBSE tools (Cameo, MagicDraw, Enterprise Architect)
• Knowledge of RESTful APIs and microservices architecture

Responsibilities

• Lead Agile technical planning and execution including PI Planning, sprint planning, backlog refinement, daily scrums, and system demos
• Coordinate with Product Owners, Scrum Masters, and engineering teams to refine requirements and ensure Definition of Ready/Done
• Provide senior-level engineering leadership across modernization, sustainment, and integration activities
• Conduct system-wide technical assessments and develop COAs for government decision-making
• Lead troubleshooting for distributed systems, container orchestration failures, and network/infrastructure defects
• Guide architecture development for microservices, RESTful APIs, and cloud transitions within DoD hosting environments
• Support requirements engineering by analyzing Change Requests and ensuring traceability to system requirements
• Maintain configuration management processes and traceability across requirements, design, code, and test artifacts
• Lead CI/CD pipeline development, container image deployment, and deployment package preparation for MFOM environments
• Coordinate with cybersecurity teams to support vulnerability remediation, RMF compliance, and accreditation documentation
• Develop DoDAF-compliant architecture views documenting MFOM system structure and data flows
• Apply MBSE methods using Cameo/MagicDraw/EA to model MFOM system behavior and interfaces
• Ensure architecture baselines and traceability between requirements and delivered system capabilities
• Translate stakeholder requirements into updated system architecture models and interface control documents
