Job summary

FALCATA seeks an experienced Project Controller to provide financial planning, schedule control, and program oversight for high-visibility DoD S&T initiatives. You will embed with PMs, lead scientists, and PIs, bridging technical goals with disciplined business processes across budgets and IMS timelines.

You will prepare inputs for PPBE cycles, monitor expenditures against benchmarks, and deliver executive dashboards for leadership. DoD Secret eligibility is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, Project Management, or a related field.
• 10+ years of progressive experience in accounting or controllership roles with responsibility for financial close and reporting, project controls, programmatic analysis, or defense financial management.
• Active DoD Secret clearance eligibility required (U.S. citizenship also required).
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (complex formulas, pivot tables, data reconciliation) and commercial program management software suites.
• Hands-on proficiency with Microsoft Project, Smartsheet, or similar scheduling applications.
• Experience navigating DoD financial databases or ERP systems (e.g., CCaR, GFEBS, CRIS, DAI, Navy ERP).

Responsibilities

• Oversee cradle-to-grave budget formulation, allocation, and tracking across multi-year S&T budget activities.
• Establish, refine, and document accounting policies, internal controls, and standard procedures.
• Develop and maintain spend plans, track commitments, obligations, and expenditures against benchmarks.
• Coordinate with division accounting staff on monthly and annual close activities.
• Reconcile financial records using DoD accounting and financial management systems.
• Assist PMs in inputs for PPBE lifecycle and POM build cycles.
• Identify critical paths, schedule dependencies, resource constraints, and program risks.
• Conduct variance analyses to detect deviations and propose remediation.
• Prepare executive visual aids, dashboards, and MSRs; support PMRs and TIMs.
