Job summary

Socket.dev seeks a Senior Network/Telecommunications Engineer to support DoD telecommunications transition activities at Scott AFB, IL. The role involves assessing existing network configurations, developing requirements, and guiding transition planning and implementation.

The engineer will work with transport, MPLS, Ethernet, IP VPN, VoIP, and related services, ensuring technical requirements are met and issues resolved in collaboration with customers and stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Senior experience in telecommunications, network engineering, or comparable DoD/Federal environments.
• Experience analyzing telecom/network configurations and developing technical solutions.
• Strong documentation and customer communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Research and assess existing telecommunications and network configurations.
• Analyze requirements and recommend alternative technical solutions.
• Support transition of legacy services to current Government contract solutions.
• Develop and review technical requirements for PWSs, IGCEs, QASPs, and related documents.
• Assist customers in defining network and telecommunications requirements.
• Support transition planning, provisioning, implementation, cutover, and validation.
• Evaluate technologies and recommend solutions meeting operational needs.
• Contribute to standardized technical processes and continuous improvement.
• Collaborate on transport/access, MPLS, Ethernet, IP VPN, VoIP, and other services.
