Job summary

World Wide Technology (WWT) seeks a Senior Network Engineer to support DoD environments, designing secure, high-speed backbones and implementing zero-trust segmentation across multiple sites.

You will configure NGFWs, deploy network sensors, and integrate telemetry into SIEM pipelines, while adhering to DISA STIGs and RMF/ATO guidelines. Expect collaboration with SOC and cyber teams on threat detection and incident response.

Qualifications

• Active Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility required.
• Minimum of 8+ years of progressive, hands-on experience in enterprise network engineering and network security within DoD, IC, or federal environments.
• Bachelor’s degree in Network Engineering, CS, Cybersecurity, IT, or equivalent (or 12+ years of relevant experience in lieu of degree).

Responsibilities

• Design, deploy, configure, and maintain mission-critical enterprise routing, switching, and transport backbones across multi-site DoD and secure enclaves.
• Architect, deploy, and manage Next-Generation Firewalls, implementing zero-trust segmentation and strict boundary controls.
• Architect and sustain passive/active network visibility infrastructure, including TAPs, packet brokers, and network sensors (Zeek/Suricata) for telemetry ingestion.
• Harden network devices per DISA STIGs, DoD boundary protection, and NIST SP 800-53/Zero Trust (SP 800-207).
• Collaborate with SOC and cyber teams to route and feed logs into Elastic/Splunk/Kafka for real-time threat detection.
• Engineer secure site-to-site IPsec VPNs, MACsec links, and HAIPE overlays for data-in-transit confidentiality.
• Develop automation playbooks using Python, Ansible, and REST APIs for configurations and telemetry routing.
• Analyze telemetry, optimize QoS and HA architectures (MLAG/vPC/BFD) to prevent packet loss under load.
• Support incident response and forensics with PCAP analysis and threat hunting.
• Produce network topologies, IP schemas, and RMF/ATO artifacts for DoD.
