Job summary

Blue Origin is seeking a design engineer to develop safety-critical mechanical components for pressurized docking mechanisms as part of the Lunar Permanence program. You will participate in the full design cycle, generate drawings, interface control documents, and work with suppliers to deliver qualified hardware that meets cost and schedule targets.

The role reports to the Docking Mechanisms Subsystem and requires strong CREO modeling, GD&T expertise, and proven ability to communicate complex

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering required.
• 5+ years designing aerospace or mechanical systems in aircraft, spacecraft, or launch vehicles.
• Strong mechanical design, integration, and mechanism analysis using 3D modeling tools.
• Knowledge of manufacturing, assembly, integration, and qualification testing.
• Proficient in technical writing and clear communication.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop safety-critical mechanical components for pressurized docking mechanisms.
• Participate in full design cycle: conceptual to qualification with GD&T documentation.
• Create drawings and interface control documents per ASME Y14.5.
• Develop component specifications and manage suppliers.
• Produce non-flight, proof-of-concept hardware for fast-moving projects.
• Collaborate in an agile team with shifting priorities.
