Job summary

Blue Origin seeks a seasoned design engineer for the Lunar Permanence program on the Docking Mechanisms Subsystem. You will design safety-critical docking components, lead end-to-end hardware development, and deliver documentation for assembly, testing, and qualification.

Collaborate with NASA and partners to ensure safe, reliable hardware within cost and schedule. The role emphasizes leadership, mechanical design excellence, and adherence to aerospace standards.

Qualifications

• Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.
• 5+ years designing aerospace or equivalent mechanical systems.
• Proficient in technical writing and clear communication.
• Experience with manufacturing, assembly, integration, and qualification testing.
• Ability to earn trust and maintain professional relationships.

Responsibilities

• Design safety-critical mechanical components for pressurized docking mechanisms.
• Lead flight hardware design from concept to qualification, including GD&T documentation.
• Create assembly/testing docs and manage subsystem tests and suppliers.
• Develop non-flight, proof-of-concept hardware for rapid R&D.
• Work in a small, agile team with shifting priorities.
