Job summary

Optimum is seeking a DNS Engineer – SRE to own the architecture, scalability, and reliability of our mission-critical DNS infrastructure powering our ISP and core network services. You will champion automation, observability, and self-healing designs, combining deep IP networking with modern security protocols to ensure resilience for millions of users.

The role requires cross-functional leadership with Product, Security, and Service Assurance teams to deliver a carrier-grade DNS ecosystem,

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Telecommunications, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience in networking and security).
2-3+ years in a networking or systems engineering role with SRE focus (automation, reliability, and monitoring).
Hands-on experience configuring and maintaining DNS servers (BIND/Unbound/PowerDNS, AWS Route 53, or Azure DNS).
Understanding of TCP/IP and DNSSEC; exposure to DoH/DoT and encrypted transport.

Responsibilities

Architect global DNS architectures with high availability and automated failover.
Engage with DNS vendors and drive roadmaps for reliability and security.
Oversee DNS platform lifecycle, deployments, and capacity planning.
Define DNS security and traffic policies (DNSSEC, DoH/DoT).
Develop automation workflows using Python, Go, Ansible, or Terraform.
