Job summary

Hulcher Services Inc. in the Midwest seeks a senior operations manager to lead division-level safety, maintenance, and people management across multiple sites.

You will drive strategic planning, staffing, budgeting, and on-call responses to derailments or environmental remediation, while building customer relationships and ensuring compliant, high-quality service. This role requires five or more years of management experience and a valid driver's license, with up to 75% travel.

Qualifications

• High School Graduate
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
• A valid driver’s license
• Extensive knowledge of state permits requirements and procedures
• Five+ years’ direct management in derailment or environmental services operations
• Strong ability to communicate technical information to all types of people
• multitask and coordinate conflicting priorities
• Strong analytical, problem solving and interpersonal skills
• Must be able to lift/carry materials up to 50 lbs

Responsibilities

• Take ownership of Safety Program for each Division (training, coaching, incident investigation)
• Oversee Mechanical preventative Maintenance program (oversight, training, guidance)
• Staffing, recruiting, training, cross-training, retention and scheduling
• Ensure asset utilization and profitability across divisions
• Maintain quality and customer satisfaction through regular updates and audits
• Handle major derailments or environmental remediation responses
• Develop and monitor budgets and market strategies
• Hire, train, supervise, evaluate performance, and counsel division staff
• Ensure administrative requirements are completed in a timely manner
• Perform other incidental duties as required
