Job summary

Eversource Energy is seeking an experienced distribution planning engineer to lead medium- and long-range plans for a reliable electric distribution system in the Northeast. You will work with cross-functional teams to evaluate PV, EV, and storage integration and perform contingency analyses.

The role requires a PE license in CT/MA/NH (or eligibility), a strong background in power systems and communication of technical results to stakeholders. Travel between MA/CT/NH may be required.

Qualifications

• Minimum of five (5) years related experience in planning, design, and operations related to distribution line and distribution substation facilities.
• Registered Professional Engineer in Connecticut, Massachusetts or New Hampshire is desirable.
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering required; Electric Power Systems preferred.

Responsibilities

• Identify distribution system problems and lead planning studies for reliable operation.
• Develop medium- and long-range distribution plans including DER integration.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to enable two-way communication of new technologies like PV, EV, and storage.
• Prepare contingency studies for distribution networks (N-1, N-2).
• Propose new distribution substation and OH/UG feeders.
• Conduct voltage and power factor studies and advise engineering/operations.
• Lead forecast studies for load planning.
• Provide economic analysis with other departments for complex projects.
• Recommend project priorities for capital programs.
