Job summary

General Dynamics Information Technology seeks a Senior Distribution Systems Engineer to modernize network design and support multiple Air Force and Space Force bases. The role requires surveying, implementing, testing, and sustaining wired networks, with substantial travel and on-site work at Eielson AFB in Alaska.

The candidate will lead small teams, coordinate with government POCs, and deliver design documentation while ensuring secure and reliable network operations.

Qualifications

• BA/BS degree with 5+ years of DS Engineering experience, preferably in DoD/IT upgrade projects.
• Active Secret clearance required to obtain/maintain clearance.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical guidance on distribution systems design and implementation (ISP/OSP).
• Lead small implementation teams and coordinate with Government POCs and base counterparts.
• Plan, install, test, and sustain wired network functionality; perform end-to-end fiber testing with OTDR and power meters.
• Review deliverables, mentor junior engineers, and ensure quality of project submissions.
• Update network as-built documentation based on testing results and splicing work.
• Engage with vendors and client staff; communicate project status to stakeholders.
