Job summary

General Dynamics Information Technology is seeking a Junior Distribution Systems Engineer to support the BIM contract at Eielson Air Force Base in Fairbanks, Alaska. The role focuses on modernizing network design and implementation with on-site responsibilities and collaboration with base counterparts.

Required to reside in the Fairbanks area for daily onsite support; candidate will assist with survey, planning, testing, and sustainment of wired network functionality under supervision.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant Engineering discipline or 2+ years of related experience.
• Interim Secret clearance required.
• 2+ years of related experience.

Responsibilities

• Assist senior field engineers in troubleshooting problems and following established procedures to resolve issues.
• Support basic installation of equipment and infrastructure supporting the BIM contract.
• Help install new or upgraded technologies under the guidance of more experienced team members.
• Assist with end‑to‑end testing of fiber optic cables using OTDRs, power meters, and related tools.
• Document findings from fieldwork and report any issues that affect project progress to senior staff.
• Communicate daily with team members to support project timelines and goals.
