Job summary

Orange and Rockland Utilities, Inc. seeks a Sr. Distribution System Operator to oversee day-to-day electric distribution operations on a rotating shift.

You will supervise field crews, manage switch orders, and coordinate substation activities to ensure safe, reliable service. The role requires on-call availability, NERC awareness, and strong communication with union personnel and management. Ideal candidates bring a Bachelor’s in electrical engineering or related field with relevant control

Qualifications

• Must have 2+ years of supervisory or project management experience.
• Strong oral and written communication skills with union personnel and management.
• Good organizational and leadership abilities; able to handle changing priorities.

Responsibilities

• Develop planned and emergency distribution switch orders to ensure safe, reliable operation.
• Manage field forces, crews, and resources to progress emergency work and outages.
• Oversee service operators, ensure time reporting accuracy and proper workload distribution.
• Coordinate substation equipment operations with System Operator for switching and repairs.
• Provide timely notifications and quality assurance for safety, outages, and maintenance.
