Job summary

Colorado Springs Utilities is seeking a Senior Electric Distribution System Operator to ensure safe, reliable real-time operation of our 34.5kV and 12.5kV systems. You will monitor with SCADA/OMS, coordinate switching, and direct clearances for planned and emergency work.

Role requires rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays. You will make critical decisions under pressure while maintaining system stability and safety.

Qualifications

• Experience in a distribution system operator or control room environment.
• Knowledge of electric distribution, generation, and control room operations.
• Experience with SCADA or energy management and outage systems.
• Understanding of switching and load restoration principles.

Responsibilities

• Analyze distribution conditions and respond to outages and abnormal events.
• Evaluate and approve planned outages based on risk and conditions.
• Maintain logs, switching records, and event documentation.
• Collaborate with Field Engineering to ensure system stability and performance.
• Identify risks and perform proactive control actions.
• Provide guidance and training to operators on procedures.
