Job summary

NY STATE ELECTRIC & GAS CORP is seeking a Principal Engineer to work on-site in Binghamton or Rochester, NY. You will apply distribution planning criteria, mentor engineers, and lead projects with broad business impact.

You will manage a 10-year capital plan, perform advanced analyses, and represent the company in industry associations. Requires a BS in Electrical Engineering and 10 years of experience; PE preferred.

Qualifications

• BS in Electrical Engineering and 10 years of relevant experience.
• PE license preferred.
• Deep experience in Distribution Planning, Reliability Engineering and DER.
• Knowledge of internal/external regulatory issues.
• Ability to lead teams and mentor staff.

Responsibilities

• Solve complex distribution planning and reliability issues including thermal loading, DER interconnections, and N-1 analysis.
• Develop alternative concepts and NWAs to improve processes and services.
• Lead projects and studies across multiple OpCos and serve as SME on key demonstrations.
• Mentor engineers, review work, and coordinate resources across departments.
• Present findings to regulatory bodies and external stakeholders.
