Job summary

Sargent & Lundy is seeking an experienced drafting/engineering technology professional to join our distribution design team in a hybrid role. You will prepare sketches and detailed drawings for 4 kV through 34 kV networks, create traffic control and permit drawings, and develop BOMs and estimates as part of multi-discipline project teams.

Qualified candidates bring 7+ years of drafting-related experience, a relevant degree, and proficiency in AutoCAD and/or MicroStation.

Qualifications

• Associate's Degree in Drafting or Bachelor's in Engineering Technology or a high school diploma.
• 7+ years of drafting coursework or equivalent technical experience.
• 10+ years of distribution design experience.
• Proficient with AutoCAD and/or MicroStation.
• Ability to visualize systems without CAD.
• An Associate's Degree in Computer Aided Design.
• Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in producing technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models.
• Knowledge of practical application of engineering science and technology, including relating equipment to design.
• Knowledgeable in codes and standards such as NESC, NEC, ANSI, IEEE, GIS/GWD.
• Experience with complex overhead and underground distribution projects (120/208V through 34 kV).
• Strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepare construction sketches and details for overhead and underground network services (4 KV through 34 KV).
• Create traffic control plans and permit drawings; develop structural/facility/equipment drawings and plans.
• Perform short circuit and voltage drop calculations.
• Develop Bills of Materials and estimates.
• Develop work packages to troubleshoot, repair, replace or modify distribution systems.
• Support maintenance and recapitalization of distribution components.
• Plan modifications to the system and develop work packages and follow performance of the work.
