Job summary

Sargent & Lundy is seeking a distribution design engineer in a hybrid Chicago-area role. You will draft construction sketches for 4 kV through 34 kV systems, prepare traffic control and structural drawings, and perform electrical calculations under the guidance of a project lead.

Essential requirements include an associate degree in drafting or a related engineering field, 10+ years of distribution design experience, and proficiency with AutoCAD or MicroStation.

Qualifications

• Requires Associate’s Degree in Drafting and/or a Bachelor’s in Engineering Technology or high school diploma.
• 7+ years of drafting coursework or equivalent technical experience.
• Minimum 10 years of distribution design experience.
• Proficient with AutoCAD and/or MicroStation.
• Knowledge of design standards and distribution software.

Responsibilities

• Prepare construction sketches and details for overhead and underground network services (4 KV–34 KV).
• Create traffic control plans and permit drawings; develop structural facility drawings and equipment drawings.
• Perform short circuit and voltage drop calculations; develop bills of materials and estimates.
• Develop work packages to troubleshoot, repair, replace or modify electrical distribution systems and follow progress.
