Job summary

Apple Inc. in San Diego, CA seeks a Senior Software Engineering Manager for Energy Services to own strategy, roadmap, and architectural direction for a server platform team of 11 engineers, delivering scalable distributed systems to support sustainability goals.

You will lead hiring, define technical roadmap, maintain architectural credibility, drive AI-enabled workflows, collaborate with product, security, and compliance, and ensure reliable, secure operations of mission-critical services

Qualifications

• Proven track record of building, leading, and growing high-performing software engineering teams
• 10+ years of software engineering experience, including 5+ years in direct people management responsibility
• Deep expertise in designing and operating mission-critical, highly scalable distributed systems
• Experience with hiring pipelines and building inclusive team culture
• Strong background in security, compliance, and governance practices
• Proficiency with platform-oriented engineering
• BS Degree in CS or equivalent work experience

Responsibilities

• Lead hiring, onboarding, coaching, and performance management for the team
• Define and communicate team strategy, technical roadmap, and durable architecture decisions
• Maintain technical credibility across your team's systems — engage deeply in architecture reviews
• Champion a platform mindset, building shared services and infrastructure
• Drive your team's adoption and sustained fluency with agentic and generative AI tooling
• Shape how engineers across the organization work with AI across your team and broader organization
• Partner cross-functionally with product, security, privacy, and compliance stakeholders
• Operate and continuously improve mission-critical production distributed systems
• Foster a team culture grounded in technical excellence, psychological safety, continuous improvement, and shared accountability
