Job summary

Mixpanel, Inc. is seeking a Software Engineer III (L3) on the Data Runtime team to design and build the systems that execute every query at scale.

You will collaborate with senior engineers and product teams to shape architecture for elastic compute, distributed caches, and storage internals. You will own projects end-to-end, contribute to design docs, and help drive AI-first analytics across thousands of customer deployments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 3+ years of professional software engineering experience building and operating data infra/backend systems.
• Strong foundation in distributed systems or data infrastructure.
• Experience owning a project end to end: design, build, ship, operate in production.
• Strong technical communication, especially in writing design docs and code reviews.
• Sound judgment in technical tradeoffs from production experience.
• High ownership and accountability.
• Desire to work on AI-first analytics at scale.

Responsibilities

• Design and build the systems that execute every query at Mixpanel.
• Contribute to the technical design for complex distributed systems projects.
• Collaborate with peer infrastructure teams and product teams on shared architecture.
• Own projects end-to-end from prototype to production rollout.
• Ensure performance, reliability, and scalable data infrastructure.
