Job summary

Commonwealth Fusion Systems is seeking a Senior Data and Operations Software Engineer to join the Data and Operations Software group. You will build distributed data services, APIs, and processing pipelines in Golang, while also delivering a Python client library for data access.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a relevant engineering field (computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, industrial engineering, etc.).
7+ years relevant experience.
Backend software engineer with distributed systems and REST APIs.
Proficiency with Python.
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative, and innovative environment.
Familiarity with Linux and development tools (Git, GitHub, Docker).

Responsibilities

Develop the distributed systems and services that provide data acquisition, access, and processing capabilities within the company.
Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code in Golang.
Write a user-friendly Python client library.
Collaborate with physicists, diagnosticians, and other engineers to gather user stories and translate the resulting requirements into code.
Optimize backend performance to improve data ingestion, retrieval, and processing times.
Help make fusion energy a reality by making it possible to collect, retrieve, and analyze data from simulations and experiments.
