Job summary

Commonwealth Fusion Systems is seeking a Senior Data and Operations Software Engineer to join the Data and Operations Software group. You will build distributed data services, APIs, and client libraries in Golang and Python, collaborating with physicists and engineers to enable high-performance data processing for fusion experiments.

You will optimize data ingestion and processing times in a fast-paced, mission-critical environment and contribute to real-time data collection and visualization

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in a relevant engineering field or equivalent experience.
7+ years of backend software experience with distributed systems.
Proven experience building REST APIs and data services.
Strong problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

Develop distributed systems and services for data acquisition, access, and processing.
Write clean, efficient code in Golang and Python client libraries.
Collaborate with physicists and engineers to translate requirements into code.
Optimize backend performance for data ingestion, retrieval, and processing times.
Work on data collection, analysis, and visualization for simulations and experiments.
Contribute to mission-critical software in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
