Commonwealth Fusion Systems in the United States is seeking a Senior Data and Operations Software Engineer to join the Data and Operations Software group. You will build distributed data systems, APIs, and tooling to ingest, store, and analyze data from simulations and experiments.

You will collaborate with physicists and engineers, write Golang backend code, and develop a Python client library to facilitate data access.

Qualifications

• 7+ years backend software engineering experience in distributed systems.
• Experience designing and consuming REST APIs for data-intensive systems.
• Strong debugging and performance optimization skills.
• Ability to work with physicists and engineers to translate requirements into code.

Responsibilities

• Develop the distributed data services and APIs for data acquisition, access, and processing.
• Write clean, maintainable, and efficient backend code in Golang.
• Create a user-friendly Python client library.
• Collaborate with physicists and engineers to gather requirements and translate them into code.
• Optimize backend performance for data ingestion, retrieval, and processing times.
• Enable data collection and analysis from simulations and experiments.
