Job summary

Commonwealth Fusion Systems LLC seeks a Senior Data and Operations Software Engineer to join the Data and Operations Software group. You will develop distributed systems and APIs for data acquisition, access, and processing, collaborating with physicists and engineers to deliver high-performance data services.

Expect to work in a fast-paced, innovative environment, writing Go and Python code, and leveraging Linux, Docker, and Git tools. Equity and comprehensive benefits accompany the role.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant engineering field.
• 7+ years relevant experience in backend software engineering.
• Proven experience as a backend software engineer working on distributed systems and REST APIs.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative, and innovative environment.
• Proficiency with Python.
• Proficiency with Golang or similar language suitable for web services.
• Familiarity with Linux and development tools such as Git, GitHub, and Docker.

Responsibilities

• Develop the distributed systems and services that provide data acquisition, access, and processing capabilities within the company.
• Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code in Golang.
• Write a user-friendly Python client library.
• Collaborate with physicists, diagnosticians, and other engineers to gather user stories and translate requirements into code.
• Optimize backend performance to improve data ingestion, retrieval, and processing times.
• Help make fusion energy a reality by enabling data collection, retrieval, and analysis from simulations and experiments.
