Position Summary

This position plays a critical role in the development and execution of BMS's global medical strategy within our Oncology portfolio. The WW Medical Oncology Medical Product Lead (MPL) is a strategic leader with broad responsibilities across the Worldwide Medical organization, serving as a key leader in the cross-functional matrix, providing medical insights, interpreting evolving tumor landscapes, and disseminating clinical data. The MPL is accountable for developing aligned medical strategies and executing core medical deliverables, including Integrated Evidence Plans, Scientific Narratives, and External Engagement and Advocacy plans, as a co-lead of the cross-functional Melanoma/Emerging Portfolio Asset/Indication Medical Strategy (AIMS) team. The Senior Director, MPL will oversee the Izalontamab Brengitecan (IzaBren) asset across multiple indications in Oncology, navigating complex issues with cross-functional partners to ensure optimal medical affairs strategy development and execution.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and executing the Global Medical Affairs strategy for IzaBren. This senior medical leader will report to the Melanoma/Emerging Portfolio Disease Area Head within WW Medical Oncology. Responsibilities include:

  • Core medical representative of the associated Global Program Teams related to the assets of responsibility.
  • Shape global medical strategy by leading the cross-functional Asset/Indication Medical Strategy (AIMS) team around key assets, notably IzaBren.
  • Ensure the asset is appropriately positioned and developed within the overall BMS disease area strategy.
  • Participate in extended WWMO LT meetings to influence broader department initiatives and drive business priorities.
  • Oversee and maximize asset development across multiple tumor types in line with development plans and commercialization frameworks.
  • Develop and execute global medical strategies, scientific narratives, and provide insights into GPT and commercial plans, ensuring alignment across global markets.
  • Manage overall asset/indication Integrated Evidence Plans, identifying evidence gaps and supporting execution through various modalities.
  • Lead successful delivery of Global Medical Communications plans, including publications, symposia, and medical education.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across departments to ensure scientific understanding and communication of pipeline and marketed products.
  • Support alignment across the oncology portfolio and advise on development strategies for tumor overlaps.
  • Represent the asset/indication in senior-level meetings and support business development diligence.
  • Drive operational excellence within AIMS matrix teams and share best practices.
  • Provide updates to leadership as needed and collaborate with commercialization, GDD, and Access teams.
  • Manage external partnerships, including advisory boards and congress activities, to foster thought leader engagement.
  • Develop managed access programs for pre-launch assets to ensure equitable access globally.
  • Manage budgets and resources effectively.
  • Mentor and coach team members and manage resources across the matrix.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Advanced degree in life sciences or healthcare (MD, PharmD, PhD) required.
  • At least 7 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry, preferably in Oncology medical affairs or clinical research.
  • Strong analytical, scientific, and communication skills, with ability to work cross-functionally.
  • Excellent strategic, critical thinking, and decision-making skills.
  • Highly organized, motivated, and capable of managing risks and organizational needs.
  • Position based in HQ with approximately 20% domestic and international travel required.
