Job summary

Veranex is seeking a senior leader to guide the US Research Pathology team in Atlanta. The role combines people management, strategic business support, and hands-on leadership in preclinical pathology studies.

You will drive SOP development, manage budgets, and foster executive-level client relationships while coordinating remote and onsite teams. A strong veterinary pathology background and ACVP are required, with significant travel.

Qualifications

• Doctoral degree in veterinary medicine and ACVP certification.
• Minimum of 10 years of relevant work experience, including 5 years as a people manager overseeing remote teams.
• Medical Device Pathology Experience preferred.
• 20% travel requirement, primarily domestic; travel at least monthly.

Responsibilities

• Drive development of pathology research operating procedures to ensure reproducible, high-quality output.
• Develop short- and long-term project management strategies to assure compliance and client satisfaction.
• Foster strong client relationships at project and executive levels to promote retention and opportunities.
• Establish and manage departmental budget.
• Lead and develop a Pathologist Technician team in Worcester, MA and a remote Veterinary Pathologist, plus contractors.
• Oversee tissue evaluation, microscopic interpretation, and data integration into study reports.
• Perform gross and microscopic evaluation, record results, prepare narratives of pathological findings, and assist necropsy supervision.
• Oversee writing of comprehensive report narratives and coordinate with study directors for data integration.
• Coordinate surgery-histology activities, tissue harvesting validation, and communication with surgeons and technicians.
• Provide scientific expertise for experimental design and other study aspects as needed.
