Position Overview:
The National Association of Manufacturers (NAM) is seeking a Senior Director of Tax Policy. The Senior Director of Tax Policy serves as a key advisor, issue expert and lobbyist for the NAM and its members on a range of tax policy issues. Key issues include research & development, corporate and individual tax rates, passthrough taxation, capital gains, interest deductibility, expensing, international tax, family-owned business issues, tax reporting, and tax treaties, among others.
This position is responsible for analyzing legislative and regulatory proposals and working independently and with the VP of Domestic Policy to develop and execute legislative and regulatory strategies on designated issues to advance manufacturers' priorities. This person will also be responsible for leading and working closely with key internal stakeholders, including membership (to identify issues and communicate updates on priority items), public affairs and marketing (to inform NAM advocacy campaigns, demonstrate value to our membership on assigned issues and identify opportunities to enhance NAM’s public-facing work), and legal (to analyze statutory and procedural impacts of legislative and regulatory proposals).
The successful candidate has a track record of organizing successful policy, lobbying, and advocacy efforts and working successfully with policymakers on key tax issues. Candidate should be able to analyze and communicate complex issues clearly and succinctly to a variety of audiences, including via oral and written communication. Experience with public speaking, including engagement with the media, is preferred.
Key responsibilities include working proactively and collaboratively with other policy experts and internal groups to develop and execute advocacy strategies; serving as a voice for manufacturers before relevant policymakers on Capitol Hill and in the Administration; working closely with key leaders at the NAM's 14,000 member companies to identify policy priorities; communicating with internal and external stakeholders about the NAM's policy work; and ensuring that the NAM is responsive to the needs of manufacturers on the assigned policy issues. At the discretion of NAM leadership, this position may be used for background press interviews.

Policy and Advocacy: Engage with member companies, elected officials, executive agencies, other associations, and coalitions to drive policy positions, strategies, and tactics to achieve advocacy successes that encourage the growth of manufacturing in the United States. Serve as a lobbyist for specific policy areas. Develop compelling written work product that advances the association's policy goals, including reports, comment letters, and congressional testimony.
Impactful Presence: Make strong contributions to the Domestic Policy department's activities. Maintain a learning culture that adapts to the changing political landscape and policy developments. Complete work with the highest ethical standards.
Interdepartmental Collaboration: Work collaboratively with the other departments within the NAM to ensure that policy development and advocacy work are aligned with overall organizational goals and objectives. Contribute to a spirit of teamwork and shared purpose among department members that allows for open communication, appreciation of diversity of viewpoints and perspectives and cohesiveness.

Salary Range: $120,000 – $180,000annually. This salary range represents a good faith estimate of the lowest to the highest salary for this position. The final salary offered will be based on qualifications and experience.
