Job summary

Alvarez & Marsal is seeking a Senior Director, Supply Chain - Distribution & Logistics, open to all U.S. locations. You will lead transformative supply-chain initiatives for middle-market and enterprise clients, shaping network design, inventory optimization, and 3PL strategies.

The role requires 10–15+ years of consulting/industry experience, strong analytical and leadership skills, and the ability to travel as needed. Expect a competitive compensation package and discretionary bonus potential.

Qualifications

• 10–15+ years of combined consulting and industry operating experience.
• Preference for industry leadership roles within Supply Chain / Distribution and Logistics.
• Prior distribution and logistics analysis/advisory experience in industry, consulting, or 3PL environments.
• Deep functional expertise in distribution and logistics network optimization, transportation and warehouse sourcing, 3PL operations, production and inventory planning.
• Experience leading or modeling supply chains using software tools (e.g., Llamasoft).
• Excellent fact-gathering and analytical skills, including business process mapping and quantitative analysis.
• Flexibility to travel as required by project needs.

Responsibilities

• Understand client supply chains including manufacturing and distribution locations, product flow, seasonality, operating costs, and key processes.
• Define supply-chain strategies and tactics aligned with growth and financial objectives.
• Analyze network design and footprint costs and optimization opportunities.
• Develop a high-level planning model for inventory optimization across networks.
• Lead sourcing events for transportation and warehousing, including RFI/RFP processes.
• Assess inventory planning processes and recommend improvements.
• Develop transformation plans for transportation, freight optimization, warehousing, and distribution with benefit estimates.
• Oversee deliverables and manage the team to ensure quality.
• Lead and conduct independent and team analyses.
