Job summary

New York Life Investments is seeking a Senior Director to lead structured finance research and origination for ABS and Fund Finance, including private placements and 144A transactions. The role is hybrid with four days per week in the office.

You will supervise credit, collateral, legal, cashflow and structuring analyses, coordinate with banks, originators, asset managers, rating agencies and counsel, and underwrite new issues and secondary opportunities while negotiating terms and monitoring

Qualifications

• Minimum 15 years’ experience in ABS and/or Fund Finance markets in a buy side or sell side research role
• Demonstrated ability to source, underwrite, document, and monitor transactions
• Prior experience in credit research, risk evaluation, collateral performance assumptions with scenario and sensitivity analysis, cashflow modeling, and negotiation of deal terms
• Robust knowledge of the ABS issuers, intermediaries, and investors
• Strong understanding of U.S. securitization structures, legal foundations, and legal transaction documents
• Excellent attention to detail and the ability to work independently while contributing to the overall team culture
• Strong verbal and written communication skills

Responsibilities

• Support origination by credit, collateral, legal, cashflow and structural analysis and review of docs
• Collaborate with banks, originators, asset managers, PE funds, rating agencies, and counsel to ensure proper accounting and capital treatment
• Underwrite new issue and secondary investment opportunities in ABS and Fund Finance markets
• Negotiate document terms with issuers, sponsors and other parties
• Analyze collateral to develop modeling assumptions and assess credit quality
• Present results to portfolio managers and clients
• Monitor industry issues affecting originators, brokers/dealers & investors
• Monitor regulatory changes and lending laws
