Job summary

HCU is seeking a Director of Special Accounts & Collections to lead the collections and fraud recovery teams. You will supervise staff, manage vendor relationships, and ensure compliance with federal and state collection laws while driving performance and best-practices across the department.

You will develop and implement collection strategies, coordinate with attorneys and agencies, and produce regular financial reports to guide leadership decisions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in business or banking with 5 years’ relevant experience, or 10 years in senior collections leadership.
• Knowledge of FDCPA, FCRA, SCRA and bankruptcy procedures is required.
• Certifications in collections are preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Supervise daily operations of the collections department to optimize recoveries.
• Manage vendor relationships including attorneys and agencies.
• Ensure compliance with collection laws and regulations (FDCPA, FCRA, SCRA).
• Coach staff to improve member service and performance.
• Develop collection goals and best practices; update policies accordingly.
• Prepare and review daily, weekly, monthly collection reports.
• Travel to other branch offices as needed.
• Collaborate with law enforcement and governmental agencies as needed.
