Job summary

Capital One is seeking a Senior Director of Software Engineering to lead multiple engineering teams and drive delivery of customer‑facing apps, high‑frequency microservices, and cloud workloads. You will mentor engineers, partner with product managers, and steer architectural decisions across a full‑stack toolkit and data platforms.

You will guide the adoption of modern AI tooling, promote best practices, and ensure scalable, secure solutions that align with Capital One's cloud‑native strategy

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree is required.
• At least 9 years of software engineering experience.
• At least 7 years of people management experience.
• Experience with AI tooling to accelerate productivity is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead, manage and grow multiple teams of engineers.
• Mentor the technical and professional development of team members.
• Collaborate with product managers to define capabilities and tests.
• Improve software engineering practices and cross‑team collaboration.
• Oversee deployment to AWS and design of microservice architectures.
