Job summary

AEVEX, headquartered in Solana Beach, California, seeks a Director of SEC Reporting and Technical Accounting to lead SEC filings, complex technical research, policy development, and close activities. You will partner with Finance, Legal, Investor Relations, and auditors to ensure accurate disclosures and robust internal controls.

The role requires deep US GAAP knowledge, 10+ years of public company accounting experience, CPA, and strong communication.

Qualifications

• Deep knowledge of US GAAP and SEC reporting requirements with experience producing 10-Qs/10-Ks and related disclosure packages.
• Proven ability to write technical accounting memos and form defensible judgments on complex issues.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills for explaining technical issues to non-accountants and auditors.

Responsibilities

• Lead preparation and review of SEC filings and disclosure deliverables (10-K, 10-Q, 8-K; coordinate checklists and XBRL tagging).
• Perform and document technical accounting research on complex transactions (business combinations, leases, share-based compensation).
• Draft technical memoranda summarizing facts, guidance, conclusions, and disclosures.
• Develop and update accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls; drive SOX remediation and testing.
• Collaborate with FP&A and accounting teams to prepare reconciliations, roll forwards, EPS calculations and external reporting schedules.
• Manage relationships with external auditors and assist audit committee responses.
