Job summary

Rochester Community Schools is seeking a Director of Financial Services to lead the district’s budget development, financial reporting, and fiscal controls. The role provides strategic direction for annual and multi-year forecasts and manages accounting staff and systems.

The position requires advanced degrees and extensive budgeting experience, with a strong emphasis on internal controls, grant reporting, and collaboration with district leadership.

Qualifications

• Master’s Degree in Accounting or Finance.
• CPA strongly preferred.
• Minimum of 5 years of professional experience including a minimum of 2 years in budgeting.
• Demonstrated experience in managing budget processes.
• Proficiency with spreadsheet and database applications.

Responsibilities

• Prepare the annual budget and budget amendments. Develop methods, forecasts, and procedures for the preparation of budgets including staffing, benefits, purchases services, supplies and capital outlay.
• Provide overall leadership, direction, technical advice, and assistance in the district’s budgetary formulation, analysis, review, and control processes.
• Assist Cabinet members, Department heads and Building Administrators in the strategic, short term and annual planning of their respective budgets.
• Monitor budget objectives by analyzing variances and initiating corrective actions as necessary.
• Formulate annual and 3-5 year financial forecasts, including alternative scenarios.
