This Sr. Director, AI Engineering role leads a talented team, shapes the technical roadmap, mentors engineers, and drives innovative AI systems while maintaining responsible AI and secure, scalable infrastructure.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's in a related field with 8+ years AI/ML experience.
• At least 5 years of people leadership experience.
• Experience deploying scalable AI on cloud platforms.

Responsibilities

• Partner with cross-functional teams to deliver AI-powered products for associates and customers.
• Oversee design, development, testing, deployment, and support of AI software components.
• Make build-vs-buy decisions across Open Source and SaaS AI tech (AWS, Huggingface, VectorDBs, Nemo).
• Develop and apply state-of-the-art LLM optimization to improve performance and cost.
• Contribute to the technical vision and long-term roadmap of Capital One's AI systems.
