Job summary

Capital One is seeking a Senior Lead AI Engineer to join the IFX team, building responsible, scalable AI systems and deploying them across foundations, inference, and guardrails. You will work with engineers, researchers, PMs, and product teams to deliver AI powered products.

The role requires deep engineering and math skills, experience with LLMs, and cloud deployment (AWS, GCP, Azure). You will influence the roadmap, mentor engineers, and apply research to production while upholding governance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree with multiple years of AI/ML development experience.
• Experience in Python, Go, Scala or Java at professional scale.
• Experience deploying AI/ML systems on cloud platforms and using open source AI tools.

Responsibilities

• Partner with cross‑functional teams to deliver AI-powered products changing how associates work and how customers interact.
• Design, develop, test, deploy, and support AI software components including model training, inference, guardrails, governance, and observability.
• Leverage a broad stack of Open Source and SaaS AI technologies such as AWS Ultraclusters, Huggingface, VectorDBs, Nemo Guardrails, PyTorch, and more.
• Invent and introduce state‑of‑the‑art LLM optimization techniques to improve production AI systems’ performance.
• Contribute to the technical vision and long-term roadmap of foundational AI systems.
