Miovision is engineering the future of smart transportation, building a governed, API-first platform to power its product ecosystem. Position Summary

At Miovision, we are engineering the future of smart transportation, and right now, we are laying down the asphalt for our most ambitious infrastructure project yet. We are building a governed, API-first technology platform that will act as the ultimate express lane for how we build software, enabling new experiences for customers, partners, and AI agents. We are looking for a Senior Director, Platform to serve as the master traffic controller for this massive transformation. Reporting to the SVP of Software Engineering & Technology, you will build the foundational highways that our entire product ecosystem travels on. You will steer our engineering organization away from gridlocked, application‑centric development and into a high‑speed, contract‑driven future. Objectives And Responsibilities

Platform Strategy & Architectural Foundation

• Own the engineering strategy and translate our Platform North Star into clear architectural priorities for both human and AI‑driven use cases.
• Spearhead the transition from application‑centric integration toward a governed, contract‑driven, API‑first platform.
• Partner with Architecture to establish a durable technical foundation that protects long‑term integrity while pragmatically supporting near‑term delivery.
• Drive an engineering culture where teams naturally build on the platform because it is the absolute fastest and most effective path to delivering value.

Organizational Leadership & Scaling

• Lead, coach, and aggressively grow the Platform Engineering organization by recruiting top‑tier talent with deep expertise in APIs, distributed systems, and AI.
• Build a highly resilient team culture grounded in ownership, curiosity, technical excellence, and high‑velocity delivery.
• Lead the shift toward platform‑first ways of working, building alignment, adoption, and accountability across the broader Engineering department.
• Create an environment where senior engineers are highly empowered to make decisions while remaining perfectly aligned with a shared architectural direction.

Platform as a Product (First‑Party, Third‑Party & Ecosystem Enablement)

• Partner with Product Leadership to operate the Platform exactly like a customer‑facing product, treating internal developers, external partners, and AI agents as your core customers.
• Establish API contracts as first‑class products that natively support authentication, observability, usage metering, and scalable commercial models from day one.
• Build a governed, unified entry point for Miovision's strategic capabilities, utilizing adoption data and developer feedback to continuously improve the ecosystem.
• Identify and build reusable, standardized capabilities—partnering with Data Science to integrate models and data products—eliminating isolated alternatives across the company.

Technical Leadership & Hands‑On Builder

• Remain deeply engaged in the technology—reviewing architecture, exploring code, and prototyping solutions alongside your engineers to blast through ambiguity.
• Build the technical foundations for AI‑assisted development, personally utilizing modern agentic tools and establishing AI‑native practices across your team.
• Partner with Developer Operations to build automation and tooling that makes standardized, scalable architecture the absolute easiest path for our engineers.
• Bring razor‑sharp technical judgment to complex distributed systems, helping teams practically evolve existing architecture without requiring massive, disruptive rewrites.

Operational Excellence, Reliability & Trust

• Establish world‑class reliability, observability, security, and operational readiness as the fundamental DNA of all Platform capabilities.
• Ensure human and agent identity, delegated authorization, auditability, and guardrails are natively built into the platform rather than siloed across individual teams.
• Define strict lifecycle, compatibility, and service health standards so consumers can depend on Platform services with absolute confidence.
• Ensure the Platform seamlessly scales alongside Miovision’s rapidly growing products, customer base, and engineering organization without multiplying operational complexity.

The Ideal Profile

• The Engineering Veteran: You bring 15+ years of software engineering experience with a heavy focus on platform engineering, distributed systems, and large‑scale architecture.
• The Organization Builder: You have a proven track record of successfully leading, scaling, and coaching senior engineering teams in highly complex, multi‑product environments.
• The API Architect: You boast deep technical expertise in API design, microservices, contract governance, and full API lifecycle management.
• The Platform Product Thinker: You treat platforms exactly like a product. Experience monetizing a platform, scaling a marketplace, or building a third‑party developer ecosystem is strongly preferred.
• The AI‑Native Leader: You have hands‑on experience executing platform strategies that fundamentally change how engineering teams use AI to build, verify, and deliver software (including exposure to MCP and machine‑readable interfaces).
• The Hands‑On Builder: You are a highly credible technical leader who is just as comfortable exploring code and prototyping a solution as you are driving an executive strategy meeting.
• The Cloud Heavyweight: You have deep, practical familiarity with cloud‑native architectures (AWS), Kubernetes, modern CI/CD, and languages like Java, Python, or Node.js.
• The Transformation Driver: You have demonstrated experience successfully driving massive architectural or engineering operating‑model shifts within an organization.
• The Operations Sentinel: You possess a profound understanding of reliability, telemetry, security, and operational excellence in massive, high‑stakes production systems.
• The Strategic Diplomat: You wield excellent communication and influence skills, capable of partnering flawlessly with Product Management, Architecture, and C‑suite stakeholders.
