Job summary

The Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) is seeking a Senior Director – Operations Procurement to oversee the LIRR procurement group. You will lead a team responsible for contracting and purchasing of capital and non-capital assets, including rolling stock, across multiple departments, ensuring timely delivery and cost-effective sourcing.

Responsibilities include contract formation, negotiations, board reporting, policy implementation, and staff development.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Management, Transportation, Supply Chain, or related field.
• Minimum 12 years in procurement/contract administration with leadership experience.
• Strong familiarity with procurement regulations and multi-agency processes.

Responsibilities

• Direct procurement activities for major equipment, systems, and services for LIRR Operating departments.
• Oversee contract formation, negotiations, awards, and administration through close-out.
• Coordinate with planning to align demand, delivery, and scheduling with procurement.
• Prepare Procurement Staff Summary Sheets for MTA Board review and approval.
• Develop and mentor staff; supervise performance and ensure safe working conditions.
• Liaise with internal and external stakeholders on policy and operational matters.
