About the Role

We are seeking a Senior Director of HSE / DOT to join us in facilitating a digital revolution in the B2B supply chain. As a culture-first organization, we work relentlessly to maintain our vibrant culture. The Senior Director of HSE / DOT will help Vorto bring AI to supply chains in the world's largest companies and foster relationships with drivers and carriers to ensure safety within the trucking industry.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor the Carrier Auditing, Claims, and Field HSE / DOT teams, covering both energy and non-energy sectors.
  • Manage vetting and ongoing compliance for approximately 1,000 brokered motor carriers.
  • Ensure compliance with state and national HSE / DOT regulations.
  • Oversee carrier compliance with established journey management plans.
  • Lead incident investigations and root cause analyses.
  • Maintain KPIs related to the company's DOT / HSE programs.
  • Develop effective equipment inspection programs for all leased assets.
  • Lead presentations to customers, government officials, and internal teams.
  • Travel approximately 75% to the field.
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Experience managing an HSE / DOT department.
  • At least 10+ years of leadership and mentorship in HSE within the trucking industry.
  • Experience with brokerage operations is preferred.
  • Experience representing clients in hearings, depositions, and mediations.
  • HAZMAT, flatbed, and dry van experience is a plus.
  • Prior oilfield experience is required.
  • Subject matter expertise in USDOT roadside inspections and CVSA Out of Service Criteria.
  • Knowledge of drug & alcohol policies and procedures.
  • Experience in writing policies and procedures for USDOT / FMCSA compliance.
  • Ability to present findings to large groups.
  • Fluency in Spanish is preferred but not required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.
  • Strong sense of urgency and ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Excellent organizational skills for managing multiple projects.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and independently.
  • Effective communication skills across all organizational levels.
