Payactiv is seeking an experienced and visionary Senior Director of Accounting to lead and scale the accounting function during a critical growth phase. This role requires a leader adept at managing complex financial operations, particularly in a high-receivable environment typical of a fintech company specializing in earned wage access. You will report to the SVP of Finance and play a pivotal role in driving financial accuracy, compliance, and efficiency.

What you will do...
  • Oversee all accounting functions, including general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and tax compliance. Ensure the timely and accurate preparation of financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
  • Lead the design and implementation of a new Accounts Receivable (AR) system to improve scalability, efficiency, and accuracy in managing high-volume receivables.
  • Optimize revenue recognition and receivables management processes to support business growth.
Internal Controls & Compliance
  • Design, implement, and monitor internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with SOX regulations.
Audit Management
  • Oversee and manage financial audits with external auditors, ensuring timely and accurate deliverables and maintaining strong relationships.
  • Ensure successful completion of annual audits with clean opinions.
Operational Efficiency
  • Automate and streamline accounting processes, leveraging technology to handle high receivables volume.
  • Collaborate with product and engineering teams to integrate financial systems with Payactiv’s platform.
Strategic Collaboration
  • Partner with cross-functional leaders to support strategic initiatives.
  • Provide insights and recommendations for financial optimization.
What you need...
  • 10+ years of progressive accounting leadership experience, with at least 5 years in a senior role.
  • Experience in fintech, SaaS, or high-growth startups with $50M+ ARR is preferable.
  • Expertise in managing large receivables portfolios and revenue recognition (ASC 606).
  • Proficiency in financial systems (e.g., NetSuite, Intacct) and ERP implementations.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and process improvement skills.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related; CPA preferred, MBA a plus.
