Senior Director, Finance Transformation & Technical Accounting

Job Summary

The Senior Director, Finance Transformation & Technical Accounting, is responsible for designing and operationalizing scalable business processes, internal controls, and policies across the company to support SOX compliance, audit readiness, and operational excellence. This role partners closely with Internal Audit, CFO, Controller, and other leaders to build a future-proof finance function.

Key Responsibilities

1. SOX Controls Implementation: Lead the execution of internal control frameworks, partner with process owners to embed controls, and establish documentation standards.
2. Business Process Transformation: Redesign financial processes, identify automation opportunities, and promote best practices.
3. Technical Accounting & Financial Reporting: Serve as an internal expert on complex accounting topics, support financial statement preparation, and liaise with auditors.
4. Cross-Functional Program Leadership: Establish and lead a SOX Program Office, coordinate initiatives, and track progress.
5. Change Management & Communication: Promote control awareness, support change management, and communicate updates effectively.
6. Continuous Improvement: Monitor controls' effectiveness, stay current on standards, and enhance processes continually.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Deep knowledge of COSO 2013, US GAAP, SEC regulations, and PCAOB standards.
• Experience leading SOX compliance programs in public or late-stage private companies.
• Strong understanding of internal audit principles, financial systems, and control frameworks.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Proven leadership in managing cross-functional teams and implementing controls.

Education & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• CPA required; Big 4 background preferred. MBA or CISA is a plus.
• 10+ years in business transformation, internal controls, or technical accounting leadership roles.
