Job summary

The Center on Budget and Policy Priorities (CBPP) seeks a Senior Director with substantial Medicaid expertise to lead its federal Medicaid strategy and policy development from Washington, DC.

You will collaborate with policymakers, partners, and CBPP staff to strengthen health coverage for low-income populations, advance equity, and shape implementation of Medicaid policy at the federal and state levels. The role is full-time and hybrid in Washington, DC.

Qualifications

• Expertise in Medicaid and health policy for low-income populations.
• Experience shaping federal/state Medicaid policy and implementation.
• Strong relationship-building with policymakers and partners.
• Ability to manage staff and mentor others.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a nationally recognized resource on Medicaid, providing analysis and technical assistance.
• Direct CBPP’s Medicaid strategy and policy development in collaboration with Government Affairs.
• Manage a senior policy analyst and mentor other staff.
• Build and strengthen relationships with policymakers and health equity advocates.
• Analyze Medicaid policy proposals and state waivers to influence implementation.
• Craft policies to expand affordable coverage for uninsured or low-income enrollees.
• Advance health equity and center lived experiences in policy work.
• Collaborate with health policy teams across CBPP.
