Job summary

Xcel Energy in Denver seeks a strategic engineering leader to guide the Major Projects Group. You will provide technical direction for engineering oversight across the portfolio, ensuring safety, quality, and cost-effective delivery from feasibility to close-out.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (Civil, Electrical, Mechanical, or Structural preferred) from an accredited college or university.
• 12+ years of combined experience in engineering, design, construction, and/or project management.
• 5+ years of leadership or management roles overseeing multi-discipline teams and external consultants.
• Professional Engineer (PE) registration.
• Travel up to 50%.

Responsibilities

• Engineering oversight and technical direction across the major projects portfolio, ensuring safe, on-time, within-budget delivery.
• Directs and manages a team of engineers, including external consultants, ensuring quality and adherence to standards.
• Establishes and maintains uniform engineering standards and design criteria across major capital projects.
• Provides leadership across a multi-billion-dollar project portfolio, including scope development and design reviews.
• Coordinates with internal and external stakeholders to maximize efficiency and enterprise alignment.
• Supports regulatory filings and compliance with BES-related standards.
• Drives QA/QC and continuous improvement in engineering delivery.
• Researches and facilitates adoption of new technologies for improved performance.
• Develops leadership and workforce management to sustain long-term capability.
• Represents the company in industry forums to stay ahead of changes.
