Job summary

Xcel Energy is seeking a Senior Engineering Leader to guide the Major Projects Group across our capital program. You will oversee engineering deliverables, manage internal and external resources, and ensure compliance with codes, standards, and safety requirements.

The role requires a BS in engineering, 12+ years in engineering/PM, 5+ years in leadership, and PE registration. This position involves collaboration with cross-functional teams, and travel up to 50% across regions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an accredited college or university.
• Minimum 12 years in engineering, design, construction, and/or project management.
• Minimum 5 years in engineering leadership with multi-discipline teams and external consultants.
• Professional Engineer (PE) registration.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Willingness to travel up to 50%.

Responsibilities

• Provide engineering oversight and technical direction for major projects across the portfolio.
• Direct internal engineers and external consultants; ensure standards and delivery.
• Establish and maintain uniform engineering standards and design criteria.
• Lead multi-billion-dollar capital portfolio engineering support and reviews.
• Coordinate cross-functional stakeholders across regions and functions.
• Support regulatory filings and ensure BES/NEC/NERC compliance.
