Job summary

Bread for the City in Washington, DC is seeking an Associate Director of Development, Individual Giving to lead major gifts fundraising and planned giving initiatives. You will manage a portfolio of donors, cultivate relationships, and drive engagement to support the organization’s mission.

The role focuses on soliciting gifts of $10,000+ and moving donors through the giving cycle with a donor-centric approach, collaborating with the Development Team to reach annual revenue goals.

Qualifications

• Minimum of six years in development or related field.
• Expertise in major gift fundraising and donor stewardship.
• Ability to manage a portfolio of high-value donors (5–7 figure).
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Cultivate and steward individual major donors to build the portfolio.
• Develop and manage a portfolio of ~120 prospects/donors and oversee the giving cycle.
• Solicit and close gifts of $10,000+ and build engagement with Bread for the City's mission.
• Identify planned giving prospects and coordinate with fellow teams on cross-channel outreach.
