Job Overview

The Senior Director Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP) serves as a strategic advisor and thought partner to the Executive Leadership Team (ELT) and senior leaders, aligning human capital strategies with organizational objectives. This role supports both corporate team members and geographically dispersed employees across the U.S. and leads enterprise-wide initiatives in talent management, organizational effectiveness, and cultural transformation. The Senior Director HRBP influences leadership decision-making related to workforce planning, leadership development, and change management. Additionally, this position mentors HR team members, promoting a cohesive and agile HR function that supports the company's mission and values.

This position will be onsite 4 days per week at our corporate office in McLean, VA.

Responsibilities & Qualifications
Responsibilities:
  • Drive enterprise-wide talent strategy by partnering with the ELT and senior leaders to align workforce planning, organizational design, and leadership development with Sunrise’s long-term business goals.
  • Serve as a strategic advisor to ELT members and department heads, offering insight and influence on complex talent decisions, leadership effectiveness, and organizational change.
  • Lead and inspire a high-performing HR team, providing direction, development, and coaching to HR Generalists and office services professionals.
  • Champion people-centric initiatives across corporate and geographically dispersed teams, ensuring equity in engagement, communication, and performance management practices.
  • Architect organizational effectiveness solutions, including job design, team structure, and workforce optimization.
  • Design and deliver engagement strategies tailored for both on-site and remote team members.
  • Steer cultural transformation efforts by promoting Sunrise’s mission, values, and DEIB initiatives.
  • Oversee employee relations matters, focusing on risk mitigation, legal compliance, and policy consistency.
  • Advise on workforce transitions, including reductions in force, severance planning, and impact analyses.
  • Lead compliance efforts, ensuring adherence to employment laws and internal policies.
  • Maintain compliance in required training and certifications.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field; Master’s or HR certification preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of HR experience, including 5+ years supporting executive leaders and dispersed teams.
  • Proven success in partnering with C-suite and leading organizational change.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and decision-making skills.
  • Extensive knowledge of employment laws and employee relations.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
