Job summary

Barnhart is seeking a Director of Operations – Heavy Haul to drive company-wide leadership for Heavy Haul and RORO projects, ensuring safety, efficiency, and adherence to standards.

The role partners with regional teams to manage risk, equipment readiness, training, and regulatory compliance, mentoring personnel across multiple regions while travel is required. Experience leading complex, multi-site operations and strong DOT knowledge are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree preferred; equivalent combination of industry experience, technical expertise, and leadership accomplishments will be considered.
• Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in heavy haul transportation, specialized rigging, heavy lift, construction, logistics, or related operations leadership roles.
• Strong working knowledge of DOT regulations, transportation compliance requirements, and industry best practices related to heavy haul operations.

Responsibilities

• Provide operational oversight and technical support for Heavy Haul and RORO projects as needed.
• Lead risk assessment and help ensure appropriate controls are established prior to execution.
• Plan equipment availability and maintenance to support current and anticipated project requirements.
• Develop and support Heavy Haul training initiatives for operators, field supervisors, project managers, and other personnel.
• Coordinate with regulators and ensure DOT compliance across projects.
• Serve as a primary company-wide resource for Heavy Haul and RORO operational matters.
