Job summary

Baker Hughes is seeking a Senior Director to lead the Technical Accounting Advisory & Global SOX function. This role will shape accounting policy, GAAP interpretation, and the global control environment, partnering with senior finance leadership across the enterprise.

Responsibilities include directing complex accounting judgments, overseeing the SOX program, and ensuring rigorous governance with external and internal auditors.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• CPA certification required (or equivalent).
• Progressive experience in technical accounting, controllership, financial reporting, and/or SOX/ICFR leadership in a large public company or Big Four environment.
• Deep knowledge of U.S. GAAP, SEC reporting and internal controls governance.
• Experience leading complex accounting matter assessments and judgments.
• Proven leadership of global SOX or internal controls program in a multinational setting.
• Experience partnering with external auditors, internal audit, and senior finance leaders.
• Strong executive presence, communication skills and ability to influence at all levels.
• Experience driving transformation and process improvements at scale.

Responsibilities

• Lead global technical accounting advisory, providing guidance on complex matters.
• Oversee accounting policy development and application of U.S. GAAP.
• Prepare and review technical memoranda and policy papers.
• Advise on accounting for mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, investments, revenue, financing, impairments, and currency issues.
• Establish and govern a global accounting policy framework and update protocols.
• Monitor SEC developments and implement changes impacting financial reporting.
• Collaborate with Corporate Controller and finance teams to operationalize accounting conclusions.
• Provide guidance for strategic initiatives and transformation programs affecting reporting.
• Ensure positions are audit-ready and well-supported.
