Job summary

Merck & Co. in the United States is seeking a Senior Director, Data Collection Data Steward to lead the standards governance framework and enterprise metrics across Global Clinical Data Standards and related partners.

The role partners with GDMS, GCTO, and other global teams to set strategy, oversee training programs, and drive cross-functional initiatives. A strong background in CDISC standards, regulatory expectations, and people leadership is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree sufficient or higher for leadership roles in clinical data management and governance.
• Experience in clinical data standards development or metadata management is required.
• Minimum of 5 years of people management experience.
• Demonstrated deep subject matter expertise in clinical data standards.

Responsibilities

• Oversee standards and governance deliverables across GCDS and GDMS, including planning, resourcing, and operations.
• Define and maintain data collection definitions aligned with CDISC and regulatory guidance.
• Lead or participate in cross-functional strategic projects and governance forums.
• Provide oversight of training materials and mentoring for the Global Clinical Data Standards team.
• Act as escalation point for governance decisions and study-level design.
