Job summary

Midland College is seeking a Director of Facilities Planning and Construction to lead capital projects from concept to completion, ensuring minimal disruption to campus operations and alignment with institutional priorities.

The role requires seven years in construction management, strong contract knowledge, and the ability to coordinate with architects, engineers, and regulators. A Texas driver’s license is required.

Qualifications

• Minimum of seven (7) years of progressively responsible experience in construction management or capital project delivery.
• Demonstrated experience managing construction or renovation projects from concept through closeout.
• Experience working with architects, engineers, contractors, and regulatory agencies.
• Strong knowledge of construction contracts, project delivery methods, and project controls.
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining schedule and budget discipline.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Valid Texas Driver's License with insurable driving record.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the College's representative for capital projects, renovations, and remodel work.
• Manage projects from concept through design, construction, and closeout.
• Coordinate with architects, engineers, contractors, and consultants to ensure alignment with institutional standards.
• Develop and manage project scopes, schedules, and budgets.
• Oversee construction activities, including site visits, inspections, and quality assurance.
• Review contractor pay applications, change orders, and project documentation.
• Ensure compliance with procurement requirements and contract terms.
• Plan and manage renovation and remodel projects within occupied facilities, including phasing and minimizing disruption to campus operations.
